Requirements
Food
To avoid any sudden dietary changes that can result in stomach upset, we do request that you bring your cat’s own food.
Please note: Due to potential risk of foodborne illness and pathogens we do not use/handle raw-food diets so please bring an alternative food if your cat is on a raw-food diet.
Medications / Supplements
An additional charge is applied for cats receiving medications. Please bring all medications in their original containers with the veterinarian’s dosing instructions.
Eligibility for Boarding at Affectionately Cats
We want your cat’s stay with us to be happy and healthy; therefore, all cats will receive a check over by our veterinary technician. If anything is found that is of concern, you will receive a recommendation for an exam/review by one of our veterinarians (exam fee will apply with your approval). The following is a list of recommendations for a healthy stay. Some items are required and are marked accordingly.
All Cats
Physical exam within the last year by one of our doctors (regardless of age) – Required
Current on their Rabies vaccine. – Highly recommended
Negative Fecal Exam within past 12 months (In order to wander out of the condo unit)
Current Distemper (FVRCP) Vaccine within the past 12 months – Recommended
Outdoor Cats
Requirements for all cats, listed above, additionally-
Negative Fecal Exam within the past 3 months (in order to wander out of the condo unit)
Current Feline Leukemia (FeLV) Vaccine – Recommended
Negative FeLV/FIV Blood Test – Recommended
Senior (15+ years old) Cats or cats with diabetes or other chronic conditions
Requirements for all cats, listed above, additionally-
Physical exam with one of our doctors in the two weeks prior to every stay – Required
Current Feline Leukemia (FeLV) Vaccine – Recommended
Negative FeLV/FIV Blood Test – Recommended
If your cat is not a current client, then a pre-boarding exam with one of our doctors is required at least 1-2 weeks prior to your stay, along with records from your previous veterinarian. Current clients can use their annual visit as a pre-boarding exam.
If your cat is not a patient at Affectionately Cats, please have your regular veterinarian email your cat’s records to contact@affectionatelycats.com.
If your cat is not current on vaccines, you may return to your regular veterinarian before boarding or elect to have these services performed here for our usual fee. All cats are checked for fleas before boarding. If evidence of fleas is seen, your cat will be treated with a flea control medication for a fee.
